Hey out there folks!
I got a bigger response than I expected to my Quarians thing, and I just wanted to make a couple quick little clarifications! I’ve seen a few people post things like “WHY would they have mandibles when Turians and Quarians were from different planets?” An excellent question!
The basic gist of my little idea was, Turians and Quarians could be a very closely related species, perhaps with a common ancestor. Maybe survivors from a previous Reaper extinction, who settled different planets. Why not? Space travel has obviously been possible in the Mass Effect universe for hella long. Turians ended up going one way, much more heavily armored to protect themselves, while Quarians went another, losing armor and becoming much physically weaker. This is a possible explanation for their similarities, and their major differences from every other race in the universe.
Alternatively, we see sci-fi stuff ALL THE TIME where aliens have extremely humanoid faces/mouths for no good reason. Mass Effect is no exception (Asari, and to some extent Drell, at least as far as nose and mouth go). Why not give the Turians a counterpart too? AKA “BECAUSE I SAY SO HURR HURR”
But don’t worry guys! This is all just me being silly, and I’m quite sure none of this will actually be true. Just throwin’ stuff out there! :)
